Lamb Tacos

This Mexican inspired Ontario lamb taco is perfect for any night of the week. 


  • 1 lb. ground or mince lamb
  • 2 Tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1012 taco shells – either hard shells or small 6-inch soft flour tortillas will work


  • Additional Taco Toppings For Consideration: Cheese shredded, lettuce, hand diced tomatoes, hand diced red onion, taco sauce, sour cream, chopped mint and or cilantro guacamole, Hot Sauce, Salsa.


In a large skillet or pan add the ground or mince lamb and cook on medium-high heat.
While cooking breakup the lamb meat
Once cooked add the chili powder, cumin, salt, oregano, garlic powder, and pepper to the lamb meat and stir well as it continues to cook.
Continue cooking until the lamb meat about 8-9 minutes, stirring frequently.
Once lamb meat is cooked reduce the heat to medium then add the tomato sauce and water while stirring. Continue cooking stirring occasionally, for 7-8 minutes, until some of the liquid evaporates but not dry. 
Remove from the heat.
According to their directions warm the taco shells.  
Serve and enjoy! 
Fill the taco shells with lamb taco meat mixture.
Top with desired taco toppings such as: Cheese shredded, lettuce, hand diced tomatoes, hand diced red onion, taco sauce, sour cream, chopped mint and or cilantro guacamole, hot sauce, salsa. 


Mint is a great addition to the lamb tacos.
