Ontario Lamb Loaf

Description

This delicious Ontario lamb meatloaf is super easy to make and quick to prep even for a week night meal. This recipe is loaded with flavors you can’t resist!


Ingredients

2 eggs

118.29ml dry breadcrumbs

2.46ml salt

1.23ml black pepper

453.59g ground beef

453.59g ground lamb

29.58ml olive oil

1medium onion, chopped

4garlic cloves, minced

4.92ml dried thyme

4.92ml dried basil

118.29ml ketchup or 118.29 ml tomato paste

14.79ml Worcestershire sauce


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a skillet, sauté the onion, garlic, thyme, and basil in the olive oil until the onion is soft and almost golden in colour. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the mix cool.
  3. Add the eggs into a large bowl and beat. Add breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add the ground lamb and your cooled onion, garlic, and herbs.
  5. Add the worcestershire sauce and ketchup (or tomato paste).
  6. Mix everything together and place in a greased loaf pan. Make sure you push it down tightly.
  7. Bake for 60-65 minutes.
  8. Let it cool for 5 – 8 minutes before slicing.
  9. Drain any fat and serve!

Notes

You can also make this a Mediterranean inspired loaf by adding feta cheese and mixed with black olives and sun-dried tomatoes before cooking.

Lamb loaf can also be served (hot or cold) on nice buns or bread to make an amazing sandwich.
